PUPPETS

I am a lover of puppet and toy theatre. I have written and directed several puppet plays and work to incorporate puppet and objects into my work whenever applicable. Below is selected examples of my designs and creations.

RAPUNZEL (2006)

This musical shadow puppet tale was done on the cheap in Hong Kong. All puppets were designed by yours truly and made from cardboard (mostly pizza boxes), duct tape and bamboo sticks. Despite the low-budget, some wonderful affects were produced.

MR. FRUMP'S FLIGHT AT NIGHT (2007)

This (mostly) silent clown piece involved a sockey monkey and a man afraid of flying. They crash land on an island controlled by a mad scientist from the monkey's past and must use their wits and resources to escape. Presented at Le Rideau Theatre Cafe in Hong Kong (June 2007).

ROSALITA'S DEAD MAN (2007)

A distant bell chimes and a skeleton rises from the grave under a sympatheticl moon. He heads off to seek his sweetheart, Roselita. But Roselita has taken up with another man. So, there'll be hell to pay… This is a part of a longer work titled THE LUNATIST [AND RELATED TALES OF WOE]. It is a wordless piece that combines eccentric physicality, mask work and unique tabletop puppetry. An excerpt was presented at Houston's 4th Annual Bobbindoctrin Puppet Festival.
