Outside of one of my personal meccas: The Neo-Futurtorium (Chicago, IL- Oct. 2004)

I was in Chicago in October of 2004 to perform in the Single File Solo Performance Festival. I was doing my piece THE LUNATIST (AND RELATED TALES OF WOE). I like Chicago. To paraphrase David Mamet, Chicago is a "get the job done, get a girl, have a beer" sort of town. No frilly pretensions and wilting artists here. I hung out with a fellow performer from Dallas and ex-Chicagoen, Rasa Hollander of Punch Drunk Comedy and I stayed with Jeremy Lamb, another participant in the festival. His improv group, The Available Cupholders, had set up camp in Chicago after moving from Austin (where they were known as Well Hung Jury). While in Chicago, one of my main goals was to see a Neo-Futurist show, especially one of their TOO MUCH LIGHT MAKES THE BABY GO BLIND shows. It was pretty good. I really dug the kinetic flow of the constantly moving show!
